Six Teens Seriously Injured in Virginia DUI Crash

car crash

An early morning car crash in Falls Church, Virginia on Monday left six teenagers with life-threatening injuries and one charged with driving under the influence. The crash occurred in a residential neighborhood near the Capital Beltway. Fairfax County police report that alcohol consumption and speed were “absolutely” factors.

Police say the driver likely lost control of the vehicle while traveling uphill, striking a tree and ejecting five passengers not wearing seat belts, all between 14 and 17 years of age. The sixth occupant was rescued from the wreckage. All were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, escaped injury and exited the vehicle on his own. He was arrested at the scene on DUI charges.

An accident reconstruction team is investigating to determine the exact aspects of the crash, deploying drones for aerial visuals of the scene.
